Terahertz chip antenna

Brief introduction of project results

In this project, a variety of terahertz on-chip antennas with different structures were prepared based on 0.18um CMOS technology, and circular double-arc slotted on-chip antenna, rhombidal diagonal slotted antenna, single-loop differential antenna and double-loop nested differential antenna were designed.

Performance indicators

The dimensions of the double-loop nested differential antenna are 243×185μm2, the resonant frequency points are 606GHz and 792GHz, the corresponding bandwidths are 8GHz and 14GHz, and the gains are 7.2dB@606GHz and 4.04dB@792GHz, respectively. The dimension of the circular double-arc slot antenna is 293×260μm2, the resonant frequency point is 300GHz, the bandwidth is 14.7GHz, and the gain is 5.3dB@300GHz. The dimensions of the diamond diagonal slotted antenna are 254×208μm2, the resonant frequency point is 300GHz, the bandwidth is 12.67GHz, and the gain is 5.9dB@300GHz. The size of the single-loop differential antenna is 243×185μm2, the resonant frequency point is 300GHz, the bandwidth is 14GHz, and the gain is 5.7dB@300GHz.


Scope of application and market prospects

The miniaturized terahertz on-chip antenna with good performance can not only improve the detection quality of the detector and save the production cost, but also be the basis of the overall miniaturization of the equipment. The terahertz on-chip antenna is suitable for non-destructive testing in 5G, future 6G communication, biomedical and industrial fields, and has a very broad application prospect.
